A zieNu base shows how many watts your household currently consumes. To be able to see how much power you use has the advantage that you can do something with that information. "Watt" is an international standard unit of power. On all electric equipment is stated how many watts it uses.

Children can learn from the zieNu base. First, they have no idea what the mysterious number is about. After a while you might hear: "Look, he's at 4500 watts, far more than this morning! Yes, that's right, I just turned on the dryer ..."
In general, the use of a 1 watt costs a European consumer around 2 euro per year. So, if you are able to reduce your usage by 50 watts continuously it means a saving of approximately 100 euro per year.
zieNu stimulates energy consciousness and you'll have to do a bit of calculating. Some customers figured out tht their freezer was using twice the amount of electricity compared to a new one. Buying a new freezer was a direct saving of 60-80 per year.
Another customer discovered his old central heating pump was using 100 watts continuously. It was replaced by a 30 watt water pump and it lower the electric bill with about 50 euro's a year.
It takes some time and effort to become more aware of your electricity consumption and find out where you can save. It all starts with seeing how much you use at this moment.
